Accessorizing 1.2.3
Start fresh! Remove all existing accessories and separate them into piles according to type, shape and size
Group related items together: group by color, shape, design, or purposes when sorting items.
Keep in mind that odd numbers of pieces work better than even numbers.
Keep it simple. Less is more.
Alternate textures to create interest.
Apply the Triangle Theory: alternate heights and zigzag pieces front to back to create visual interest and depth instead of placing them in a straight line. The tallest piece should be placed nearer the back.
Accessory do’s & don’ts:
DO balance both sides of a display with similarly proportioned pieces.
DON’T use all one material, such as glass, unless you are going to display an entire collection.
DO use mirrors to create an illusion of space.
DON’T hang a mirror without making certain it reflects something interesting/appealing.
DO use an odd number of items.
DON’T create visual clutter with too many pieces.
