SLUMBERLAND OPENS NEW STORE IN TOPEKA, KANSAS

TOPEKA, KS — October 17, 2011 — Slumberland Furniture (www.slumberland.com) is pleased to announce the opening of a new Topeka location. The new owners, Michael and Louis Prenger, and Kurt Johnson now own 9 Slumberland franchise locations and have over 60 years of combined retail furniture experience. Michael Prenger is owner and store manager and grew up in the industry.

The store is located at 1800 SW Wanamaker Road, and is approximately 40,000 square feet with an attached warehouse. Over 12 local Topeka residents work at the store. The official grand opening will begin on October 22, 2011, and the ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on November 1, 2011. 40 Winks Foundation is donating 40 beds and Habitat for Humanity is helping to coordinate the effort to help children and families lacking these resources.

One of the Slumberland core values is “giving back to the community” and Slumberland has given away over 20,000 beds to local charities to distribute since 1993. Through Slumberland’s 40 Winks Foundation and Homes for the Holidays, an annual giving event, Slumberland is able to provide new box springs and mattresses for deserving families.

“For too many children and families across America, getting a good night’s sleep is only something they dream about. That’s why we created the 40 Winks Foundation,” said CEO Ken Larson.

Additionally, Slumberland will promote special grand opening sales events storewide. With doors opening to the public at 10:00 a.m., the public is invited to enter a drawing to win a $1,000 Slumberland shopping spree. Winners will be announced on November 29, 2011.
