Slumberland Furniture Helps Make “Homes for the Holidays” for Area Families with Donation of Beds this December

Mattress and box spring sets to be donated to local nonprofits

Little Canada, MN – December 8, 2010 – This holiday season, Slumberland Furniture is working to provide families in need with new beds through its annual Making Homes for the Holidays program. Beginning December 8, Slumberland will donate over 1,700 mattress and box spring sets to nonprofit partners throughout the communities it serves, including Bridging Inc., St. Anne’s Place, Tubman Family Alliance, Union Gospel Mission and World Relief of Minnesota, among others, who will distribute them to families in need.

The Making Homes for the Holidays program began in 1993. Since then, Slumberland has donated more than 19,000 new mattresses and box springs to deserving families. Slumberland stores will also distribute quilts donated from local community partners.

In addition, Slumberland vendors Tempur-Pedic, Genie B’s and Glideaway will be donating teddy bears, bed-packs (pillows, sheets and blankets) and bedframes that will be distributed with mattresses and quilts.

“For far too many families, a warm bed has become a luxury, especially in today’s tough economic environment. With Making Homes for the Holidays, Slumberland is working to ensure that everyone in our communities gets a healthy night’s sleep,” said Ken Larson, Slumberland’s owner.

The beds will be loaded for delivery to area families on December 8 starting at 8:00 a.m. at the Slumberland warehouse at 3060 Centerville Road in Little Canada.
