Every room needs its drama point, the place the eye goes first, and everything else gathers around. There are many ways to create a focal point, and it doesn’t have to take a lot of effort or cost too much. An easy inexpensive way to create a focal point only takes a bucket of paint and a roller. Choose a wall or part of a wall, and paint it a different color than the rest of the walls. Add a singular bold piece of artwork, and you’ve doubled the drama. Changing the texture of an accent wall is another way to create that focal point. Consider choosing a sheet of brick surfacing. Add your artwork, and an interesting furniture piece and you’ve got your focal point. Fireplaces are natural focal points, so be sure you give yours lots of loving attention. The wall over the fireplace is often a great place to add an accent color.
Create a focal point in every room, and enjoy the added drama and interest. Think of it this way. A focal point is quite simply, the heart of the room.
