Rustic Modern. Seems like a contradiction in terms. But it’s really about the dramatic balance between old and new. It’s about the natural look of something rustic, the rough edges and time honed patina teamed up with the sleek and modern. The old makes the new more interesting and visa versa.
One of the easiest ways to change up a room is to change up the artwork. Don't be afraid to make a big statement. In many homes today walls are larger than ever, and using pictures that are too small for the wall makes your artwork look lonely. Large pieces of artwork hold the wall and give dramatic impact.
IThe quality of light in your rooms is as important as every other design decision you make. Don’t use your overhead lights for anything but finding your keys. Overhead lights tend to create flat, cool lighting without nuance or glow. Instead light your room up with table lamps. The shades provide warm diffused lighting, that cozy feeling.
